When Jena and Taylor met through a mutual friend, they instantly connected over a common past. The more they got to know each other, they began to feel as if fate had been tempting their destiny all along. We asked the couple to share their story with us, as well as what the future holds for them.
A Shared Past
As Jena and Taylor continued to get to know each other, they reminisced about college. They discovered Jena played softball at Tiffin University, while Taylor played soccer at Urbana University--many of their games often occurring at each other’s campuses. As they continued chatting, they realized their friend groups often went to the same places in Columbus, OH. Was it possible they had crossed paths?
Taylor shared, “We started off as friends, but our chemistry and connection was undeniable.” As they continued to get to know one another, she said it was obvious that there was no way they could ever be “just friends.”
Sharing Common Interests
Jena and Taylor enjoy playing different sports in their free time, including sand volleyball and slow-pitch softball. They also have a love for kayaking, traveling, completing puzzles, and fostering dogs together.
Knowing They’re “The One”
When we asked the couple to share how they knew the other was “the one,” Taylor shared, “We balance each other well, despite being polar opposites. She grounds me in ways no one ever could. I knew for sure when I realized that any adventure I took was never as great without her there to enjoy it with me.”
Jena said, “I realized she was the one I wanted to be around all of the time, even if we were doing absolutely nothing. I want to take every adventure with her instead of tackling it alone. We couldn’t be any more different from each other, but I cannot stop laughing when I’m around her. She has become a part of me that I never knew I was missing; she was that missing puzzle piece.”
The Proposal
Jena described all the incredible details of Taylor’s proposal to us. The day's events began with a girls’ day out, complete with brunch, shopping, and pedicures.
She decided she should get dressed up under the impression they were continuing the fun with a date night. Little did she know, a blindfolded walk to the gazebo was in store.
“I started to get an inkling when I heard our friend singing “Marry Me” by Train. But, once I had the big reveal of the gazebo, I melted because I just knew I was about to be asked to spend the rest of my life with my favorite person.
I was so shocked at how much work she put into not just the proposal but my ring. It is an honor to get to wear this ring for the rest of my life.”
She shared that the surprises didn’t stop there! Taylor managed to gather all their family and close friends to join in on the proposal. Everyone was waiting to celebrate with them after she said, “yes.”
“The whole proposal was a dream, so there is no way I could just pick one favorite part!” Jena said.
The Engagement Ring
We asked Taylor how she decided on the perfect engagement ring for Jena. She explained that Jena used to send her images of all the engagement ring styles she loved most.
“She’s always had an eye for jewelry. So, I went with (our friend) Haley to Fink’s and asked if she could help me put all of Jena’s favorites into one ring,” she recalls.
We asked Jena what she loved most about her engagement ring. The first thing on her list is knowing it is one-of-a-kind. Secondly, she loves Taylor and Haley's dedication in making sure it was everything she wanted, all in one ring.
“The clarity and style of the ring is such an eye-catcher no matter what lighting is on it. The ring is simple but very detailed all at the same time. I’m in love with it!” Jena said.
Choosing Fink’s Jewelers
Selecting Fink’s for the engagement ring was an easy choice for Taylor. She couldn’t believe how quickly the ring was finished and in her hands.
Taylor said, “Haley is a good friend of ours, and I knew she would ensure Jena had the best ring possible.”
The Wedding
We asked them to share what they are looking forward to most about the big day. Taylor can’t wait to see Jena for the first time as she walks down the aisle. She also added she’s looking forward to dancing the night away with all their loved ones.
Jena is excited to share what will be the best day of her life with the people she loves the most. She also said she can't wait to officially tie the knot so she can take Taylor’s last name.
Looking Towards the Future
When asked what they are looking forward to most about their future together, Taylor said it’s the thought of the family and life they will continue to build together.
Jena loves knowing they will have endless adventures together, from “expanding our family by human children (we have three fur kids), to continuing to grow together!”
